Local Service

The Norfolk and Suffolk ME and CFS Service is jointly commissioned by GP led Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG's) in Norfolk and Suffolk.  The current service is now delivered by East Coast Community Healthcare Community Interest Company.

The service is therapy led.

The service is staffed by:
  • Occupational Therapists/Physiotherapists
  • GP's with a special interest in ME and CFS (GPwSI)
Clinics are held in the following locations:
    * Nelson Medical Centre, Gt Yarmouth
    * Patrick Stead Hospital, Halesworth
    * Bowthorpe Health Centre, Norwich
    * Shrublands Medical Practice, Gorleston
    * Kirkley Mill Health Centre, Lowestoft
    * St James Medical Practice Kings Lynn
    * Stow Lodge Centre, Stowmarket

      Patients and Carers are working with NHS Norfolk, NHS Suffolk and Health East to deliver improvements to the service so that the needs of all patients with ME and CFS in our area are met.  These improvements will include:
      • The appointment of a biomedical consultant or consultants
      • Opening of more clinics in Norfolk and Suffolk
      • Education of GP's
      • Comprehensive needs assessment and development of a new model of care
      NHS Norfolk, NHS Suffolk and NHS Gt Yarmouth & Waveney (now Health East) have made the following commitment:
      'It is the intention of all three PCT's that the development of services for ME/CFS will be a true partnership venture with patient and carers working with the PCT's to create a world class service'
